In the past, hashtags were used purely to go viral. You would slap #FYP or #Viral on a post and hope the algorithm blessed you. Today, the platforms have completely shifted: hashtags operate as Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for your videos.
The 3-Tier Hashtag Stack
Our predictor groups generated hashtags into three specific pillars which satisfy modern algorithm requirements:
- Broad Reach: High search volume tags that inform the algorithm about the general industry (e.g.,
#financeor#fitness). - High Precision / Niche: Lower volume, highly targeted tags where the competition is lower and intent is higher (e.g.,
#rothiratipsor#hypertrophy). - Trending: Audio or format-specific tags currently rising in velocity that provide a short-term traffic boost.
Platform Specific Strategies
Do not copy-paste the exact same hashtag block to every platform. The different algorithms process metadata differently.
TikTok
Less is more. Use exactly 3 to 5 tags. TikTok's visual AI scans your video; if you put 20 hashtags, you confuse the algorithm and kill your reach.
Max capacity. Instagram's algorithm still relies heavily on text metadata. You can use 10 to 15 hashtags successfully hiding them in the caption.
YouTube Shorts
Title dominant. YouTube is a search engine first. Include max 3 hashtags in the title or description, relying primarily on natural title SEO.
